![]() The new service makes it possible to display contextual ads next to PDF documents.
Documents in Adobe's PDF format have the advantage over web pages of being able to display complex layouts in their original form, complete with all necessary fonts. While such PDF documents can more easily replicate the experience of reading print-based publications than web pages, sites have struggled with ways to monetize them. The new Adobe-Yahoo! agreement makes it possible to add the contextual ads made famous by Google to PDF files, thus creating a new revenue stream for publishers, who can monitor performance of the ads via detailed reports. The free program is currently open to US-based publishers creating English content. Publishers can apply for participation on the Yahoo! site. Set as favorite Bookmark
