(Boston – January 4th, 2008) - cebas Computer, maker of finalRender®, today announces the release of Service Pack 4 for finalRender Stage-2 for Maya. All users should download SP4 and install it today!

Service Pack 4 for Maya

Welcome to Service Pack 4 for finalRender Stage-2 Maya. In our ongoing desire to serve the needs and expectations of our customers, cebas Computer will periodically release Service Packs to enhance features and stability for your production usage. It is strongly recommended that you always keep your software up to date with these Service Packs.
Please be aware that all of the prior Service Pack fixes are included within this latest version of the software and you do NOT need to install all of the patches in order to become current. Simply installing the SP4 build will give you all of the updates, fixes and enhancements.

What's New in SP4?

Compatibility with Maya 2008

finalRender Stage-2 for Maya is now compatibile with Maya 2008 and contains many fixes and improvements including the items below:

Render Command Line Changes
-gismd GI aQMC solution mode.Values are: 0=Still Frame, 1=Camera Animation, 2=Character Animation
-giupd boolean GI aQMC update solution
-gissmp boolean GI aQMC share samples
-gifseq boolean GI aQMC save to file sequence
-giintf int GI aQMC interpolation frames

Fixes and Enhancements

  • ImagePlanes support has been improved
  • Improved bump2d and bump3d quality and speed
  • Fixed bug in plusMinusAverage shader
  • Fixed bug in Render Region
  • Fixed bug in Render Selected
  • Fixed bug in Ambient component of Maya surface shader
  • Removed renderSettingsTabLabel_melToUI warning
  • Solved a memory leak on the trimmed NURBS tessellation routine
  • Improved rendertime subdiv, now UVs are properly smoothed. The new algorithm results a cleaner mesh that uses less memory during the rendering
  • Added outNormalWorld attribute to bump2d and bump3d nodes
  • frArchitectural bump works properly now, no more need of vectorSpace conversion nodes
  • useBackground shader works properly behind transparent/refractive objects
  • areaLight/lightlinking interaction fixed
  • Fixed directionalLight bug
  • Added frShadowRE shader
  • Fixed bug in %l (render_layer_name)
  • Fixed a problem of non-updating render settings when batch rendering multiple render layers

    SP4 is a free download and can be acquired by registered users at the cebas Shop
    finalRender Stage-2 SP4 is a full install and you should completely remove any previous install from add/remove programs, BEFORE installing.

    If you already have an account you can simply go to the My Account section of the cebas shop and then go to My Downloads to get the update. If you are unable to see the download in your My Downloads section, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and mention that you are not able to see the download in the shop. If you didn’t purchase finalRender® Stage-2 directly from the cebas shop, you will need to create an account and then press the Register Me button in the My Downloads section. Within 24 hours you will have all updates and downloads available to you for all of your cebas products.
